Our tailored LLM programme, as well as our eight legal specialisms, are underpinned by an exceptional reputation for teaching and research. Designed for recent law graduates as well as established professionals, the programme is rigorous, demanding and require serious commitment – just as you would expect from one of the world’s leading law schools.

You will choose to specialise in one of eight different pathways or to choose your own combination of modules for a ‘General LLM’. The specialist pathways currently include:

We organise weekly events in London, saving you money through group discount bookings. Every student at King's is automatically a member of KCLSU (King’s College London Students’ Union). Together with the members it is a union of students where individuals connect, have fun, build communities, share experiences, and make change. 

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements to be considered for the LLM:

Undergraduate degree with high 2:1 honours (i.e. overall average of at least 65%) in Law or a degree with at least 70% law content, or an equivalent international qualification and grading.

Exceptionally, you may be considered where a comparable academic level has been achieved through other graduate studies (such as a Graduate Diploma in Law) and where work or experience (at least three years legal work experience) has made you a suitable candidate for the LLM.

Application Procedure

Applications must be made online using King’s online application portal and a non-refundable application fee applies.

All applications must be made to the generic Master of Laws (LLM) programme. If accepted, and once you have enrolled onto the LLM programme, you will have the opportunity to choose one of our specialist LLMs. At the start of the semester you will have the opportunity to attend taster lectures and to speak to programme/module leaders before you make a decision on whether to do a specialist or tailored LLM.

Distance Learning


Develop your global legal career with an online LLM from The Dickson Poon School of Law. Our LLM courses are 100% online, and they provide an opportunity to study some of the most interesting aspects of law at a time of great change. Legal practice is constantly evolving in response to a world that is itself undergoing rapid cultural advances.


With our online LLM courses, you’ll explore real-world examples to deepen your understanding of how this transformation is reflected in financial practices and the way we do business, as well as the legal structures that govern them.


If you’re a lawyer wishing to enhance your understanding of commercial law without taking a career break you can do so with either an International Corporate & Commercial Law LLM or an International Financial & Commercial Law LLM from King’s College London.

After this date, programmes will remain open if places are available, and programmes will be closed as soon as they are full, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

These include a Legal Week, an extensive three-day Law Fair and skill development programmes. The Dickson Poon School of Law at King's College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. The School was established in 1831, and has played an integral role in the life of King's since the College was formed almost 200 years ago. The Dickson Poon School of Law is based in Somerset House East Wing, which was opened by Her Majesty the Queen in February 2012.
